Well here goes. This, as the title suggests, is the first post I’ve ever written so no doubt it will be read by no one and will probably be something I later look back on and laugh at in the future!

As I’m new to all this it’ll probably take me a while to get used to how everything works, and as I come from a Graphic Design background expect multiple design changes – I’m never happy.

The reason for me starting this blog is simple. I work as a Marketing Manager for a small hotel group based in Scarborough in North Yorkshire called English Rose Hotels and one of my main responsibilities is the hotel groups websites.  I’ve only been looking after them for about 13 months and already I’ve learnt so much about the web and, more specifically, the use of the web by hotels and the travel industry.

In my many jaunts around the Internet checking out the competition, I see so much stuff of absolutely no relevance to the current project I’m working on, but never the less very interesting…or at the lease very cool.

Hence, my first blog! Here I intend to keep note of all the latest ‘cool’ things I see on the web with relation to hotels and other interesting things to do with travel.

So that’s it for now. I’m sure I’ll be back soon, tinkering with the look of the blog and adding new stuff that I’ve stumbled upon, but until then I’ll sign off.
